This 160-acre park features a mix of heather moorland, woodland, and grassland, with several walking trails and scenic views of the surrounding countryside. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and birds, and offers picnic areas, a car park, and an information centre. The highest point in the park, Penistone Hill, offers panoramic views of the Peak District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales.
Park your car in any of the top car parks and walk down the hill to the signpost and clearly marked wide path. Do not Walk across from the car park to the top path this takes a very long route which becomes very overgrown, damp, slippery, & steep. It was fun but I wouldn't recommend it. Once we arrived over looking the river WOW. After asking fellow walkers who advised of the much easier route we enjoyed the river and the rest.
Great place for a walk. There is a few free carparks on the hill which are quite bumpy but decent enough still. Lots of dog walkers about and a little body of water for dogs too! The trig at the top has a great view in all directions. Lots of different walking tracks/ paths on here. Great sunrise this morning while I was up there!
Did the lovely circular walk twice this morning with my husband and dog. It was very bracing the only thing that bugs me is I keep my dog on the lead and I got fed up of other dog owners who just wander off hoping thier dogs will keep up whilst pestering me And my dog I hope to go back on a sunny day and sit to enjoy the grand views from some great well placed benches.
You are able to park a Car there. The walks are really good with wonderful views all around Also good for dogs
Had a nice time walking here with the kids. Only saw one piece of litter in the carpark. Beautiful unspoiled countryside. Would love to come back for a paddle in Summer.
