Sprawling woodland with hiking trails, waterfalls & bridges, plus a volunteer-run coffee shop.
Brilliant bit of nature right off the M4. Took the kids here today including a 15 month old in her off track pushchair. The gravel and stone paths were perfectly fine to negotiate and navigate. I get some people enjoy structured walks, however if you want to just relax and explore yourself it's definitely a must. Even more so that it's only PS4 for all day parking. The car park is small but to extend it would just remove more nature so it's a fair balance. Love the garden sections along the paths. Great idea with so much different flora and fauna. Beautiful little waterfall to sit and relax by. Maybe worth adding a couple of reclaimed benches or two nearby so people can sit for a breather and enjoy the water. Definitely recommend
Penllergare Valley Woods is a beautiful place for a peaceful walk or nature hike. It has lovely woodland trails, charming streams, and scenic spots. It's a great spot to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy some fresh air and tranquility. Ideal for families, nature enthusiasts, or anyone looking to relax and unwind in nature. There is a cafe neqrby the entrance which is a cozy spot where you can enjoy a bite to eat or a hot drink after exploring the woods. Also, there is a small but charming waterfall that adds a touch of natural beauty to the area. The entrance is free but vehical parking fee need to be paid.
Lovely & tranquil location. Ideal for a walk in most weather's. Trails can be challenging in parts with gradients. Car park while not massive will accommodate motorhomes in carriageway section. Would have scored 5 stars but trail markers are nearly non existent. Not an issue in itself but when there's a strict car park locked at 5 it could be an issue.
Penllergare woods is a brilliant place for a walk any time of year. Be it by yourself or with family, friends or man's best friend. There are plenty of routes to take but if your taking a dog please bare in mind the Adders in summer months and other wild life. There is a fairly new Coffee shop/ Park information building with toilets that has popped up. With a lively view of the garden area, it's a great place to watch nature play. Squirrels often come back and forth along with different birds fluttering past. There's a beautiful little waterfall which has a deep enough pool area for people to jump off into. But at your own risk of course. There's so many bits to explore and several different entry routes so you can return again and again exploring different parts. I highly recommend some old shoes as you can go off the beaten track and explore the path of the water round to a lovely bamboo area. There's plenty of space to park up and Lazzets is the perfect place to fuel up after a lovely walk or even before hand. (Check opening times as they are under a refurbishment) Stunning food great price.
Lovely woodland walks with a river and waterfall, large carpark, parking is PS2.50 then free to go and explore the trails. Large cafe, dog friendly with seating inside and out. Easy access to the M4. I will visit again.
Wonderful woodland space with various different paths to walk along and a waterfall to top it all off. There are multiple access points on different sides of the site for those on foot. Pay-to-park car parking is available with a cafe at the start of the paths. Highly recommend for nature lovers, though this place can get busy on sunny days.
