This 19th-century clock tower stands 69 feet tall, its four clock faces and intricate stonework making it a prominent landmark in the town of Penrith.
This neo-Gothic clock tower was erected in 1861 in memory of Philip Musgrave, the son of Sir George and Lady Musgrave of nearby Edenhall. It stands in the middle of a large market square surrounded by impressive old buildings. There was no market taking place on the day I visited - just a nice flower and plant stall, and a vendor selling jacket potatoes - but there are plenty of shops and cafes in the little streets and yards leading off the square. It's only a couple of minutes walk from here to St Andrew's Church and the Giant's Grave.
Small place but very nice, small antique shops everywhere and a lot of restaurants

Great little town with a great community spirit to it. Had a walk around the small shops and cafes and there was plenty of places to visit including the castle ruins and beacon on the hill top. The clock is the masterpiece in the centre of the town. Near St Andrews Church just up the yard.
Nice clock in central location!
It was fantastic to visit there.
