Countryside park featuring small, lush peaks & hiking paths, plus 2 visitor centres with parking.
Great place to go for a hike and a day trip away from Edinburgh. Easily accessible from Edinburgh by bus. I would recommend looking at routes before you go as there is many options. Great scenery throughout
Highly recommended. The scenery was so spectacular during my visit in early April. Too bad I didn't manage to complete the trail but a quick stop at the cafe nearby the carpark still made my day. It seems like there are more trails in this area, but the trail that I took is well paved and easy to walk. Don't be confused when the bus driver drops you at the countryside road if you go by bus. Let the bus driver know that you are heading to this place so he/she could shout "pentland hill" out loud when it's time for you to take off and continue your journey. Make sure to listen to the bus driver if he's kind enough to show you the bus schedule (as of April 2023), else you will be waiting for the bus to come till the leaves turn brown. Good thing is there's a farm right opposite the bus stop so you may have your sweet time counting one little cow two little cows and three little cows. A trail that I would definitely return to if I am able to <3
!!!!! The ARMY guys making bang noises on their field, which is right beside (separated area) where you walk up from Flotterstone, that can be terrifying for some dogs causing runaways.!!!!!! Be careful and maybe find out before you enter that side, if there's any practicing going on. Fantastic walks, easy access, great walking "path" you might need to put dogs on lead when animals are roaming around so watch out for sheep and lamb, they just appear suddenly. The cafe at the car park (Flotterstone) is fantastic too, usually they close 4/5, winter time may vary, tasy hot food and cakes there, and fantastic coffees, also an outdoor area for eating, the owners are always extremely nice and helpful.
Was out hiking with "Black Scottish adventurers" and had a wonderful time out there. Such a great place for a hike or walk with breathtaking views once at the top. A must do when in the area.
This is a must see place that you can go for a Hike have a picnic walk your dogs|dog. Amazing views, lengthy walks. A must if your in Edinburgh. Also one of the best places to wild camp.
Great place to spend a day out with family and friends. Keep in mind that you need to walk around 3km to reach the loch as the cars are not allowed after a point.
