This attraction is a unique wildlife experience that allows visitors to observe salmon leaping upstream and golden eagles in their natural habitat. The centre features an underwater viewing chamber where visitors can watch salmon swimming and jumping up the fish pass, as well as interactive exhibits and a virtual tour of the surrounding countryside. From the eagle eyrie, visitors can observe these magnificent birds of prey through a live camera feed, learning about their habitat, behavior, and conservation status.
We didn't manage the ladder because of the weather but the indoor information barn was quite interesting with a viewing screen for the underwater cameras, information boards and screens. A good starting point for walks a little further on - obviously popular with dog walkers.
The salmon viewing is via a camera positioned above the salmon run, which is part of the hydroelectric power plant, and you can watch the fish move up the channel on a monitor, when the fish are moving upriver. The walk to the river is via a hard pathway, but the sides of this are very overgrown with weeds/grass that are in dire need of cutting back. The whole area of the site has been a bit neglected and is in need of some TLC. Saying that, though, it has free parking and access to miles of walks, there is a cafe which is very dog friendly and a welcome stop after a long walk
A beautiful walk along the river here, there's even some trails in the woods if you really did fancy a good walk. Can see the water wheel going with the water, would be nice to get closer but not a must to the journey. There is a farm shop on site if wanted to support local farmers. There is also a little cafe to have something to drink or eat. Free parking, plenty spaces there too.
Lovely spot to spend some time by the river
Not sure what I was expecting but it certainly wasn't a five minute wander around a room that resembles an old boiler house. Positive note its a PS1 in an honesty box and there's some good walks and a lovely cafe nearby.
Beautiful scenes and highly informative centre unfortunately I never seen a salmon this time but im sure il return for a walk.
