Plas Newydd Historic House is now closed for the season and will re-open it's doors in Spring 2024. The tearoom will operate on the reduced days of Thursday to Sunday 10-4 PM until 9th December and the gardens will remain open until dusk. ~ Home of the 'Ladies of Llangollen' Miss Sarah Ponsonby and Lady Eleanor Butler captured the imagination of Regency society when they ran away and set up home together in Wales. Visit their extraordinary Gothicised home and hear of the famous stream of visitors they received. Learn how they won the hearts of local people and turned a simple cottage into a fantasy of oak carvings and stained glass. Stroll through the gardens they developed and try homemade cakes and lunches in the Stable block Tearooms.
This is a beautiful house with lots of history, very interesting about how it all came together, the gardens are much bigger than you expect, near the house is a path that goes down to the river where there are some interesting features, you can also get a bite to eat and drink in the cafe they have there, the car park is not very big so it's best going early. It was PS9 each to go in, it's definitely worth a visit, the staff were very friendly, you can buy your ticket at the cafe or at the door of the house. Cash or card at the cafe. Card only at the house.
An excellent example of reusing, up cycling re-cycling material. Some of the paneling is medieval, the fragments of stained glass, re positioned in to other frames. The house is fascinating but the garden is restful and very rustic
Didn't pay to go in the house or tea room, but you are free to walk around the grounds. Absolutely lovely walks around a stream, very peaceful, and the sound of the water is so relaxing. The house is stunning, may well pay to go and have a look round next time.
Interesting quirky house well worth visiting. Nice cafe and food. Pretty v short walk.
Been before. Lovely place. Found the Riverside walk. Wow! Beautiful. Only had hot drinks at the cafe but sat outside and staff very chatty and helpful.
Fantastic. Great back story. A fascinating house which was great to explore with well laid out information panels. The gardens are not extensive but are attractive. We also had lunch in the tea rooms and it was very good.
