Don't do what I did and scramble up the sheer brambly cliff face. There's a path to the top that you can find if you take the steep stairs back up the brook towards the moor. The path is on your right from that direction and is much, much easier and takes your right to the fairy cave. Make sure you're polite and courteous to the fairies though, maybe bring some milk or honey as an offering, because the views you'll get in return are stunning.
Not so much Fairy Cave but a circular walk through the area and a walk over the moors. Its the second time we have visited the area for a walk and taken a different route up to Top Withens on both occasions, either way its a long walk uphill but the views are well worth it and there are plenty of places to have a sit and a rest.
Excellent walk as always.
