Portsmouth Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Diocese of Portsmouth, which covers south-east Hampshire, Portsea Island and the Isle of Wight. The focal point for many diocese-wide services and events, we host many diocesan events from confirmation services to the ordinations of new ministers. Worship in a variety of different styles is available throughout the year, from daily Holy Communion, to our informal family service #PompeySundays. We warmly welcome all through our doors, as a beacon and safe haven anchored in Jesus Christ. We are also the Parish Church of St Thomas of Canterbury, serving all who live in our geographical parish rather like any other smaller parish church.
Really lovely place of worship...beautiful lecturn, lovely display of flowers and a place just to be in your own thoughts...FREE TO ENTER.. but donations appreciated....also has a shop to purchase books and some gifts, which are lovely and different.. just nice to browse and take your time.. well worth a visit.
Very interesting cathedral to visit. A piece of the ensign that draped Nelson is hung on the wall in a frame made from the Victory. Lots of other local interest and D-Day stained glass window. The earliest part of the original cathedral dates from the 12th century.
Unusual cathedral, great acoustic, awesome organ. Well worth a visit.
The staff couldn't have been more helpful, welcoming and accommodating to my personal interests (particular historical eras). Free roam around the entire building, very quiet and plenty of historical references. I highly suggest visiting if you have even just a short bit of time to spare. Cheap parking metres on nearby roads. 5*!
Always a pleasure to visit. In 12th of january, 2024 the Christmas decorations was still on display.
Beautiful place full of history. Amazing personnel, events happening regularly. Restrooms also available if needed.
