Powderham Castle is the 600-year-old family home to The Earl of Devon, surrounded by 200 acres of deer park.
What a great place. The grounds are fantastic, parking is plenty. The castle itself is really very good. We had a look around, and waited for the next tour to start. David the tour guide was amazing. His knowledge is unbelievable, he is witty as he takes you around, the tour is far from boring, Because David makes it humorous. You can spend a much time as you like at the castle. Put it in your list of places to visit.
Excellent historical stuff if you join the tour. Poor old place is looking a bit run down, however a very interesting place to see. The secret garden could do with a face-lift, but the shops on the way out were pleasant with different goods and foodstuffs for sale.
A really beautiful place to explore history while looking around the castle, enjoy nature walking through the grounds and appreciate animals in the secret garden and deer all about the property. Great for people of all ages. Highly recommended. There is much more to see than the few pictures I have shared.
Beautiful castle with loads of history. The castle itself is quite big with lots of interesting details. Try to go on a tour if possible. Also the grounds are lovely, especially the American Garden, but the Belvedere tower also has some lovely views over the estuary.
A stunning castle , such nice staff and willing to help with information. Beautiful views and interesting history i would recommend visiting. A nice cafe and a farm shop just as you come in. Your ticket lasts for 7 days so you can come back.
If you're in the area this is a must, a beautiful castle and grounds. Great history and a bit of scandal... The guides are great make sure you do a tour. Lovely gardens and grounds with deer roaming.
