This modern hotel is situated near the Antonine Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and offers comfortable en-suite rooms, a restaurant, and a bar.
Had a nice stay at this hotel over the weekend. Decided to stay for 2 nights for a wedding on the second night to allow some time away from kids (we all need it!) specifically picked this hotel due to having a brewers fayre in the same vicinity which meant we could eat and drink without the need to drive. On arrival was advised that premier inn have bought over the restaurant and now only serving breakfast as no staff to manage the restaurant. This was really disappointing for us as meant we then had to drive to eat as the hotel isn't within walking distance of any places for food and meant we could not enjoy a drink with dinner as one of us had to drive. This really spoiled our experience. ||Room was basic but comfortable and had ample space. Beds were two divans pushed together and was quite noisy but still managed to sleep well both nights. ||Bathroom was a bit grubby with rust around bath taps that had stained into the bath where it has been dripping but for what you pay for premier inn it's not expected to be luxury. ||Free Wi-Fi is absolutely awful... probably so you pay the extra to be connected. ||Could not falt the staff at all - everyone we spoke to was lovely and friendly! ||Would stay again but only as a base if required due to issues experienced with restaurant.
The hotel itself was ok in a good ish location for what we needed. But it was incredibly uncomfortable and excessively hot. They did give us a fan but blowing on each other would have been more effective. I don't think any of us got more than an hours sleep which wasn't good given we had children with us. We stayed for breakfast which was lovely and the service was good. The staff were all lovely but uncaring when it came to us making them aware of our uncomfortably. We did plan on staying again. But thought better of it.
The heating was broken and the restaurant was closed for evening food. I had to send my too small children 5 and 3month to their grandparents house because they could sleep in the heat and when asked at reception they said that was just the temperature of the building but the thermostat wouldn't turn on. The restaurant only served breakfast so had to find alternative places to eat and when you need to think about a child to feed aswell this was difficult. The staff however was amazing they were friendly and always welcoming and did try to help us by providing another fan for the room (though this didn't do much to help which isn't their fault) ||Overall I won't be staying again.
I've stayed in hotels all over the world and this one is the worst. The heat in the room is unbearable making it impossible to sleep. I asked how I could cool the room and I was told to open the window and use a fan. The window opens about 2 inches and the fans sound like tractors. When we arrived we planned to use the restaurant but it turns out it only opens for breakfast. I wish I had read the reviews on here before booking as it appears the heat is a massive problem in this hotel. Unfortunately we still have one more night to stay here. We won't be back.
The hotel is mostly what you'd expect from a Premier Inn and the staff were lovely but the room was excruciatingly hot. A fan had been put in the room but with only warm air to blow around it did very little. All four of us slept on top of the covers for two nights and this known problem apparently applies to all family rooms so we couldn't be moved to another part of the hotel. Even walking into the corridor from the room is like changing climates entirely, it's ridiculous. I dread to think what it would be like on a really hot summers day!
Hotel is clean, staff are pleasant and welcoming. Rooms are a great size as always. However the temperature was horrendous. Not something fixed with a fan unfortunately. That aside. The hotel is in a decent location and was quiet despite appearing quite busy. Would stay again but maybe not during warmer months.
