Modest lodgings with single and family rooms, plus free parking & an on-site restaurant.
The day was long for us and we did seaside and a visit to the Eden project on our last day. I was too tired to drive 4.5 hours home so I looked for a premier inn en route home. This had great review, it added 10minutes to our journey but I wanted to rest well before long drive home! ||It was the best decision I made:-) we all slept in so we didn't get on the road until late but it was worth it. Lovely friendly staff. Great breakfast selection. Clean bedroom. Comfy bed. Hot bath at night and hot shower in the morning! What more do you want!! It was the best price locally as well x
Poor location, food, bar/lounge, room cleaning and WiFi. Very tired hotel.||1. Location a 40 min hilly walk from the station and a 20-30 min walk back into town. Only use this hotel if you have a car.|2. Food - The Liskeard Tavern is associated with the Hotel (both Whitbread) - the hotel advertises having a bar and restaurant they do not. Restaurant shuts early, bar shuts by 1030. On the night I ate there, there was no rice meaning 1/2 the menu not available unless you wanted chips. Wine ordered out of stock, alternative wasn't chilled, Ordered fish and chips which were barely cooked & tasted of soap/hand wash - Told had to order by 2030, rushed to be there by 2015, ordered quickly, food took >40mins to arrive (probably 2 other people in the place) when finished was asked if wanted dessert, then told we would have to order quickly, then waitress disappeared. Chef was having a bad day apparently, although why this makes any difference to me I don't know.|3. Bar/Lounge - hotel advertises bar and restaurant but there is no lounge or seating area. The bar is the next door pub which is closed during the day. No soda or draft beers in "the pub", pub set up as restaurant tables throughout.|4. Room cleaning - asked reception to clean room on both nights of stay. Neither happened - had to get toilet paper and a toilet brush from reception|5. Premier Inn WiFi (basic or ultimate) is a joke nationwide
Whilst this review is negative and I would not recommend returning to this hotel in its current state, I must praise the customer service received throughout. Staff were clearly being put under significant pressure by a poorly managed upgrade project, which includes a reduction in service in the restaurant and significantly less staff available overall.||I was initially pleased when I received a call from the hotel 3 days before. This was to ensure that the hotel was aware of any mobility requirements, particularly important for this location as there are stairs.||However, upon arrival the experience began to decline. My father-in-laws room had two broken bedside lights, whilst in the room I was staying in we had blood stained laundry, another broken bedside light, a faulty remote and a false nail in the carpet on the bedside. Hardly what you would consider clean. ||We then decided to try the restaurant. Whilst from the outside the Liskeard Tavern, now under PI management, appeared lovely, nothing could be further from the truth.||One single server run off her feet. Frozen meals being prepared by a chef who I was later told replaced a team and has never worked in a hotel before. No drinks on draft, despite a wide selection of taps. No music because there's no licence. I've seen more atmosphere at funerals.||Where there was atmosphere was the hotel corridors, where my father in law was kept up by children running up and down the corridors and slamming doors. Whilst I appreciate it is holiday season, we raised this to the hotel staff to no avail, and he was unable to get sleep until 2am despite laying down for the night at 10.||I was told that most of this disruption was due to an upgrade to a Solus hotel. But this does not justify the downgrade in service and the premiums we had to pay, especially during high season.||So, to Premier Inn - do better. I know that a significant chunk of guests, especially those who had to endure the restaurant, will not consider coming again. I've stayed in Solus sites before and they've had great experiences - but this experience has made me consider whether even a Travelodge would be an upgrade.
Staff, especially at reception, were great and our Premier Plus room excellent. However......food was average at best, breakfast ok, dinner disappointing with a limited basic menu. The restaurant really let the overall experience down. Parking was good.
Had an unpleasant stay here August 2024 because we decided to leave our room halfway though a four night stay after my partner was bitten on his face several time overnight on our first night staying at Premier Inn Liskeard. Possible bed bugs but this was not proven. Room unclean and complaint not handled to our satisfaction. Our request for refund for night not stayed there not unreasonable. Guest Relations at Premier Inn not a priority, clearly. Most of the local staff were helpful. Has put me off Premier Inn.
We stayed here for 3 nights. Parking for disabled was good. Booked for the first time a premier plus room. A little disappointed as the bed was just a normal double bed size. Fridge needed a defrost, nothing to hold anything in the door of fridge, very iced up. No complimentary water, as they hadn't had a delivery , nothing mentioned Why not tell guests. Lovely bathroom, shower gd bath towels bigger than before. Toiletries good but limited. Please premier inn think about making sure there's enough towels in the room for your guests. 2 bath towels 1 hand towel.
