Prestongrange is a free, family friendly open-air museum on the site of a former colliery. Our visitor centre is closed for winter and will reopen on April 1st 2024.
Visited here with the family. Lots of information and a lovely walk around the grounds. There is a visitor centre with a cafe and mining equipment etc to view from times gone by. The new engine shed is open and the staff member let me and my son in to view the locomotives in there and gave my son lots of information about them. Staff are fantastic, friendly and informative. It's free to enter but donations are welcome. Definitely recommend
The staff here is absolutely amazing! The coffee was the best I had! We had an incredible tour and got to spend extra time with the stream engines! My children loved playing with all the incredible toys and activities! The kids didn't want to leave! It's such a lovely place for the whole family! They also helped us with the best way to get to Edinburgh! This is by far the best experience we had during our whole trip! Thank you Stuart and Keith!!
Visited while on holiday at nearby Seton Sands. Easily accessible by public transport. Nice place to have a little wander. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. There is a little cafe/ gift shop to stop for refreshments. Definitely worth a visit.
We had a great time learning about the history of the colliery. It's free to visit. Well worth a visit.
It was a fantastic place to visit while we were on holiday. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable.
Ok if you want 30 mins. to stretch your legs or walk the dog, all the so called exhibits are either rusting away or are fenced off because of their poor condition. Cafe is probably the best part of the whole site, but a quick walk around is free.
