This historic dock in Swansea, Wales, is a popular tourist attraction and a significant part of the city's maritime heritage. Built in 1885, it was one of the largest docks in the world at the time, covering an area of 52 acres. The dock's rich history is still evident in its well-preserved architecture, with many of its original features still intact, including the impressive dock gates, warehouses, and quaysides. Today, the Prince of Wales Dock is home to a variety of attractions, including the Swansea Marina, the National Waterfront Museum, and the Dylan Thomas Theatre, as well as a range of shops, restaurants, and cafes. Visitors can take a stroll along the dock's scenic waterfront, enjoy a boat trip around the marina, or explore the many historical and cultural exhibits on offer.
When the dock is finished it will be a lovely place to visit while in Swansea. The whole front is being regenerated and what a gorgeous place to spend some time walking or cycling along. There are apartments on its left side as you head from the harbour and hotels and eateries are popping up. We could only walk down one side even though the opposite side looks more or less ready to go it isn't at this time but I'm sure it will be soon. Lovely wide pavement area with plenty of benches to enjoy it's tranquility. A lovely visit in summer
Walked by the waterfront everyday into centre to visit bars and restaurants staying nearby at Ibis hotel. A very pleasant walk, luvly townhouses to walk past, also apartment blocks over at the Kings Dock area, area very popular with dog walkers and cyclists, enjoyed our walks :)
