Located in the Essex countryside, just outside Chelmsford, this peaceful garden is a perfect destination for a day out in the East of England. With sweeping panoramas, big open skies and far reaching views the garden has an eclectic mix of inspirational horticultural styles that provides year round interest and colour. Highlights include the traditional styled Hilltop Garden with its lush green lawns, ponds and roses and the Mediterranean Dry Garden which showcases drought tolerant plants. There is also a superb Global Growth Vegetable Garden displaying fruit and vegetables from around the world. You'll also find a cafe, restaurant, shop, garden centre and children's play area to help you make the most of a day out with family & friends.
Beautiful gardens, huge variety of plants, excellent nature photography spot. It has a pond and a lake filled with wildlife and the whole garden is well kept and maintained. You can tell a lot of work goes into it constantly. I have been multiple times and will continue to do so. There is also a cafe with indoor seating and a sizable gift shop. Plenty of parking space.
I visited the Flower show on Wednesday 31st July 2024, there were so many exhibits with a good selection of reasonably priced plants & garden themed gifts. The craft marquee was full of quality gifts including pictures, jewellery & children's puzzles. After spending several hours at the show, I wandered around the beautiful gardens & stopped for a coffee and a sandwich - a great day out.
A lovely garden that's only an hour's drive from London, it's a place that's heaven for the botanically curious minded and with a breadth of flowers from all corners of the UK and even worldwide, there's no shortage of what you'll discover here. Although the UK has a myriad of such beautiful gardens, I enjoyed Hyde Hall as it isn't overwhelming and taken at one's pace, you can easily see everything here if you spend the day exploring. Be sure to check out the greenhouse to see a wide selection of seeds that give rise to a variety of chillis and plants - some of which you won't find here on these shores. All in all, worth the price of admission - oh, and the shop will certainly delight, that's for sure. You won't leave empty handed if you're of the horticultural persuasion or want a gift that's different.
It is consistently enjoyable to visit this establishment, regardless of whether you are visiting alone, with colleagues, or with children. There is ample parking available, and it was not excessively crowded despite being during half term. We took a leisurely stroll around the grounds, which offered a variety of attractions. We then proceeded to the restaurant, which can be reached by buggy upon request. We had lunch, consisting of a cheese and ham sandwich for myself and a baguette with mozzarella and tomato for my companion. We each had a beverage, and the total cost came to approximately PS13 per person. All of the food is freshly prepared, and there is a diverse selection to choose from. We spent approximately four hours at this establishment and concluded our visit by purchasing plants from the garden centre section, which offered reasonable prices. You can also get food and drink from the cafe here.
Excellent flower show. Loved looking at all the amazing plants and flowers. Some very expensive and some much more reasonable. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Much more than I expected. Good quality garden with variety. Well -tended in such a dry area during a hot period.
