Discover some of the UK's rarest wildlife and enjoy family-friendly activities at Minsmere. Choose an idyllic walk or head to the coastal lagoons to see an impressive variety of birds, including avocets, bearded tits and bitterns. If you're lucky, you might see an otter around the reedbed pools. We have a visitor centre, cafe, toilets, parking, nature trails and viewing areas, education facilities and a busy guided walks programme. Dogs are welcome in the visitor centre but are not allowed on the nature trails. Please ask at reception for details of where you can walk your dog.
A large reserve with plenty of friendly staff giving help & advice when needed. Clocked nearly 60 species so a good site in that respect. 4 large bird hides, all roomy, & a few viewing platforms too. The photos were taken from the North Hide & don't do it justice. They illustrate the openness but what you can't see are the many birds. Taken on my mobile.
We booked the loan of a mobility scooter for our daughter. It gives you so much freedom! The boardwalk and paths are so accessible. I would have appreciated some posters in the hide to help me identify some of the birds as I was hearing all sorts of names from other visitors with all the 'kit' and I hadn't a clue what I was looking for. Too used to my garden birds at home
Beautiful amazing place. Saw black adders, deer, birds of prey. The staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. We met a ranger that was so inspiring, a truly great afternoon.
Lovely walks with a huge variety of birds and wildlife. The cafe has great coffee and the best cheese scones in Suffolk (if not the UK)
This has to be one of the best reserves by far. Stunning views..being so close to the coast really gives that extra touch..and the different birds Staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. The coffee shop is a must pit stop...the vegetarian pasty was just too good. And they do lovely coffees too. I would recommend everyone and anyone to visit this place. Even if you're not into bird watching. The tranquil and serene atmosphere here is something else! Keep up the good work guys!
What a Stunning place and the weather was extremely nice as well , had an extremely enjoyable time and saw Bittern , Snape , Marsh Harrier, Waterrail, just now started Birdwatching so don't know many names of birds , relying on people to tell us .
