This is a great day out for family fun or for grabbing a coffee & sandwich before walking our accessible trails. Only 30 minutes from Glasgow city centre, 15 from Paisley, by car or train, this wetland nature reserve is an ideal spot to get away from it all and enjoy some fantastic wildlife As one of the few wetlands left in the west of Scotland, Lochwinnoch is the perfect place to watch whooper swans and a wide variety of ducks during winter months. In spring you won't want to miss the elaborate displays of the great crested grebes or listen out for warblers Our friendly team of experts can help you test out the latest binoculars and scopes, with the biggest and best range in the area available, whilst you look over our stunning reserve.
A fantastic place to visit and walk around as well as the great diversity of wildlife - birds to be seen. Visitor Centre is only open until 5:00pm which is a pity, especially in the summer months. Worthwhile taking a good pair of binoculars, monocular or a scope. And take note if the sunset [lighting up] time if walking on unlit paths - especially in the winter when days are alot shorter Also worth having the "Train Track!" App if travelling there by Public Transport. To check train times. Plenty of hides to view wildlife from. See R.S.P.B. Lochwinnoch website for more information:- https://www.rspb.org.uk/days-out/reserves/lochwinnoch
The RSPB do a wonderful job helping wildlife when our gov agencies have sold off NNR's and allowed SSSI's to lose their status. Go on, visit, great place, great staff and vols, dog friendly, fantastic place for kids to be inspired by nature. Free scopes to use upstairs too. Most areas accessible, plenty seating on trails.Really lively place. Why not join while there knowing they've got natures back. We did.
Great place for visiting with my 5 year ols grand-daughter - perfect for little legs - can cycle easily along wide, flat paths and boardwalk and out to a little island with a ruined tower on it
Beautiful Walk surrounded by nature. Plenty of interest for kids and grown-ups. The boardwalk is a great addition to the nature reserve
Really lovely staff and a nice area to have our picnic amongst showers , watching a beautiful bullfinch. Lovely to see a natural , well managed area around the Loch
One of my favourite places to go in Scotland. Great variety of birds and friendly staff.
