Wildlife observation hides give panoramic views across the saline lagoons, salt marsh and the vast expanse of mudflats that make up The Wash. On the biggest high tides from late summer onwards, tens of thousands of wading birds take flight as the incoming tide pushes them off the vast mudflats. We call this the 'whirling wader spectacle'; a special event that doesn't happen everyday! Please see our website for a guide to the dates and times you can see the spectacle for yourself. Please note that our car park has a height barrier of 2.1m (7' 1"), with no alternative parking for tall vehicles.
Great place, went for a spectacular which didn't disappoint. No toilets and nowhere nearby to eat if you go on foot (if you go in April at least as they're closed), so you'll need to drive off for food or take supplies. The walk to the reserve is simple - you can't get lost as it's all one path up to the sea. A good mix of songbirds and sea birds.
A cold, cloudy and windy day but this meant we virtually had the place to ourselves. Fantastic views out over the mudflats to the wash and so many different birds to spot. Beautiful hides around the lake with great views of all the birds. Thoroughly recommend a visit and only PS3.00 for parking
Wow! Unbelievable, the Knot spectacular is fabulous, it should be one of the 7 wonders of the world!!!!!!!! Be prepared to walk, the paths were very muddy when we visited (spring) The Knotts landing hide is the best hide I have ever seen, it's actually a bungalow- a maze ing (Didn't stop some animal leaving their rubbish though!!) This reserve is fantastic
Fantastic birding spot, the mud flats provide great habitat for many birds you may struggle to see elsewhere. However, be prepared for a decent walk from the car park. Which, if you are up for it is very worth the effort.
Lovely walk in the nature reserve. Parking charges go towards maintaining the site. Only gave 4 stars as I never found the hide.
No toilets!!!!! And the cafe and the holiday place won't let you use theirs!
