A 114-step staircase that wraps around a 20-meter-tall cylinder, featuring a mirrored interior and a kaleidoscope of colors that shift and change as visitors ascend or descend, creating a mesmerizing and disorienting optical illusion.
Steps were closed because unsafe when we visited ... BUT ... heading down to the river by another route led to a lovely river walk, and the bottom of the steps. Great walk ... for dogs too
We walked from devil's bridge (Free but limited parking) along side the river, half hour walk came to steps and with rain falling decided not to venture up as many have said can be slippery, but a nice walk. See other review for actual bridge.
Always a good view of the island. Ruskin's view is closed though so never swim in the beautiful lake nearby.
An interesting set of old stone steps down from the edge of the St Mary's Church Yard to the footpath along the bank of the River Lune. Makes for part of a very pleasant circular walk through the village and across the Devil's Bridge down stream, probably not for the unsteady among us as the name suggests - the steps are quite uneven and steep.
1820s historic steps - there are 86 steps, taking you up to Ruskins view or down to the river banks and walks to see Kirkby Lonsdale. The steps are a tough climb and it's the only way up or down at this point. Definitely worth the visit to see the old steps, the views from the top and to walk on a bit of history.
Lovely walk around Kirkby Lonsdale including the radical steps loop around the town along the river lune with devil's Bridge including in the walk. Toilets en-route and ice cream van and snack bar. Plenty of picnic areas too. Great place to explore.
