Raiders Road Otter Pools is a popular family-friendly attraction in the United Kingdom, featuring a series of natural pools and waterfalls along a scenic woodland walk. The attraction is home to a colony of Asian short-clawed otters, which can be viewed in their naturalistic enclosures. Visitors can observe the otters swimming, playing, and feeding in their pools, and learn about these charismatic creatures through interactive displays and educational talks. The attraction also offers a woodland walk, where visitors can spot local wildlife, including birds, fish, and insects, and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
A quiet forest car park on the Raiders Road in Galloway. The area is flat with toilets and a number of park style picnic benches with views over the river and Otter Pools. Charges for cars are presently around PS3 at the honesty toll booths at each end, with the drive about 10miles. Well worth the detour off the main road through Galloway Forest and still possible to have New Galloway village as the destination.
Great place to take the dogs and kids. Beautiful scenery and fun to play
Absolutely stunning place in an amazing park in Scotland. One of the most beautiful rivers I have ever seen - peaceful water, lovely surroundings and a great place to camp. There is a toilet block but no separate running water. You can during the day but not overnight so we hiked to the site.
No otters today! Too many campers. I have to admit it looks a great place to camp; I'm envious. There were a few families paddling in the water and sitting at the banks. I sat for a while using Merlin to identify the birds. It only heard Gold Crests, but it sounded like there were a lot of them. It's a beautiful place, seems well maintained. I hope to go back early on a week day to hopefully actually see an otter.
We were lucky enough to go on a really nice day so we could go for a paddle in the water, such a nice wee place. Would recommend going early as it was getting busy when we left and be careful with dogs off the lead as there are adders in the area.
This place is nice. And it's definitely worth the horrendous drive to the main attraction. The road is pretty bad, but if you go slow you should be fine. There aren't actually any otters here so just be aware of that. Great place for a day out. Toilets available. Parking is a bit confusing though. Says you need to pay but there's no signal anywhere.
