Booked the train experience with a full English breakfast. Had an absolute blast. The breakfast was well-cooked and a very hearty start to the trip. Loved every moment and felt very looked after. 10/10 recommend checking this out if you're in the area.
Well run and professional set up for the whole family. Trains (both steam and diesel) are immaculately looked after. Good tea room and some nice walks around both ends of the line. Throughly recommended
So wanted to give this 5 stars but left disappointed but not entirely the staffs fault. We loved the station at Ravenglass, we were able to grab a coffee and listen to a brass band playing whilst we waited to board the steam train for Dalegrath and a sparkle tea experience. The train journey is great, the scenery of the western Lake District just spectacular! We arrived at Dalegrath to an unfortunate power cut which meant facilities were limited. We were initially asked to take our food away but we like others insisted on sitting in as it was a experience after all. However because the dishwasher wasn't working we were made to eat from take out cartons to save washing the plates, yet we drank our tea from the mugs provided ? It really was a strange experience and dampened the day somewhat based on what we paid.
It was pretty wet but a good time nonetheless. Really well run, really clean and the scenery was amazing! We will definitely be back again at some point
If you have never been to Ravenglass you might not have known it is the home of the Eskdale miniature railway ..... These beautiful little trains are so lovingly looked after it's a joy to see. The train station houses a lovely cafe that provides lovely breakfast's, lunches and teas. You can sit on the platform or inside and just watch what's going on it's a lovely place to be. Take a trip on the train and enjoy your journey through such beautiful scenery and at the end of the line is another cafe for that cuppa. However a little stroll up the road and there's a nice pub at Boot if you prefer that. Lots of walking in the area and scenery. The train journey back to Ravenglass is very pretty. There's a lovely big car park at the station and even the Ratty Arms pub. There's a railway museum there and it's free entry. If you can't drive there the mainline train stops at Ravenglass too. You can literally spend a whole day in and around trains and for a lot of people it's a real treat. A wonderful experience for all ages and dog friendly too .
We didn't plan to go on the steam train, but as it was a lovely day we thought why not. We really enjoyed our ride, helpful friendly staff. Dog friendly even on the train
