This trig point is a concrete pillar situated on a small mound in the midst of rolling hills and farmland. It stands approximately 1.2 meters tall, with a metallic plate embedded on top, bearing the letters "OSBM 11334". The pillar's surface is weathered, with moss and lichen clinging to its sides, a testament to its exposure to the elements. The surrounding landscape is dotted with trees, their branches stretching towards the sky, and the occasional stone wall or fence line breaks up the green expanse.
Lovely walk around the area, great views of the city and the surrounding area Parking by the pub and football club, hard standing car park, paths can be muddy so not suitable for all, but great for dog walking Trig on top of hill in farmland which can contain cattle
Great jog/ walk up Billing Hill. Very muddy and slippy in the wetter months! You can get a great view from the top, however, today it was very misty! Passed quite a few dog walkers while on my way to the summit. The trig point isn't at the highest point of the hill either, but slightly lower than the top point. Well worth a walk up this little hill!
Great views but it's a really muddy walk, even with walking boots on, so I would suggest wellies in winter, as it looks like there is cattle or some other grazing animals that use the open fields at some point throughout the year. I didn't see any at the time, but it was pitch black but lots of footprints from them, which is probably why it's so muddy and boggy.
Fun little trip, great for kids who like to walk and explore.
