Park on an island in the Thames with picnic tables, a seasonal cafe, a playground & an aviary.
The children love to watch the boats going through the locks, although there's not a lot yet - most are waiting for the warmer weather! There is a very small playground with an ice cream kiosk and toilets. It's a nice walk by the river with stops to see the weir and wildlife. There are lots midges, squirrels, swans, ducks and geese that are looking to be fed. Beware of the squirrels - they may bite! There is also a beautiful memorial tree in the gardens.
Beautiful area for family and friends to chill, spent time. Lot of things to see. Loved it so much. Visit is free and also there is paid car park which you have to go left from Ray mill island entrance.
Lovely little Iceland , lush green beauty, lots of ducks and swans , public toilets available, parking is little far but walkable distance. There was ice cream shop and and food counter in the park and outside love restaurant.
Ray Mill Island is a great place to have a nice little walk around and also would be good to enjoy some food, the food from the small restaurant was delicious, would definitely recommend! There is also a nice wildlife variety there, including Canadian and Greylag Geese, pigeons, mallards, robins and wrens. Furthermore, the lock is a great place to sit, as children and adults alike will often enjoy watching boats work their way through!
Beautiful setting for a walk, the weir is really interesting to look at. Especially with the boat that seems to have got wedged in it. We went for the annual Maidenhead duck rally which was a great event, loads for the kids to do. Parking isn't easy but there's a car park down the road that was only PS4 for 4 hours
