The Reading Abbey Ruins was an incredible place to visit. At the start, I thought it looked a bit simple. However, when I arrived at the ruins I noticed that the place was really unique and it should be something that everyone visits when in Reading as the Ruins are very interesting. They have a bit of information regarding them in different areas of the ruins but the most important thing is how they were built and what materials they used to build it. The Reading Abbey Ruins are close to a park and very near the river which is a great spot to relax, chill, take it slow and to get food and drinks.

These are approx. 1000 year old ruins of a church, where monks use to live and contribute to the community..it is just walking distance from central District of Reading..in older times it holds a very important place..but later on lot of attacks happened due to which the place was destroyed..The whole history and artifacts you can easily find in the Reading Museum which is in walking distance from the Ruins..you can visit with family and friends..

I loved these stunning and unexpected ruins in treading which for a lively backdrop next to a park. Reading Abbey was closed in 1539 by King Henry VIII, and the ruins give an insight into life at that time. The information boards are comprehensive and plentiful so you really get a feel for how the monks lived and prayed. You can see why the Reading Abbey ruins are one of the most important religious sites in England. Look out for the info board with a device to turn which gives you the sounds of a bygone era! Definitely worth a visit as it has peeps to modern Reading!

Reading Abbey is a historic site in Reading, UK, founded in 1121 by King Henry I as a Benedictine monastery. Once one of the most important religious centers in medieval England, it housed significant relics and served as a burial place for King Henry I. The abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1539 during the English Reformation, leading to its partial destruction. Today, the ruins of Reading Abbey are a fascinating heritage site, offering visitors a glimpse into its rich history and the monastic life of the Middle Ages. The Abbey Ruins and the nearby Forbury Gardens are popular attractions in Reading.

Reading is a busy city-not-city. Its got so much hustle and hustle and can be quite hectic. Come to the ruins to reset!! Its super peaceful, even though it's just a stones throw from the station. A true gem

Lovely to see during the day and night. I was lucky enough to be invited to a silent disco where I got to relive my youth. The whole event was organised by #silent disco in incredible places where they were respectful of the environment and made the accessibility factor thoughtful and considerate.
