What an experience. Definitely worth the entry fee. The staff were great, allowing us to drive down to the hide so I could access it, and there was a ramp into the hide and wheelchair accessible viewing area. The gift shop has some beautiful things and the cafe is lovely too.
Wow wow wow what a great place to visit we visited on my birthday and what a great present it was too. I've seen red kites in the past but to see so many in one place at the same time was amazing. The hide we were booked into had a fantastic view of the field where they get fed. We even had the privilege of seeing the white red kite that sometimes visits to grab some titbits of meat to supplement their meals
A great experience to see these beautiful birds feeding. Nice walk around the sheep and farm. Nice cuppa and cake. Helpful, friendly and welcoming team working here. Gift shop was great for little gifts.
We pre booked our tickets, was amazing to see these birds so close. You can arrive as early as 12.30, there is a small farm a trail, play area, cafe and shop. So can be a nice family day out. It was only me and my partner so I only went just to see the main event, so I got there about 40 minutes before the main event which was fine. Was great watching the birds circling above knowing what's coming, we were lucky enough to see the 'white' red kite If using your phone as camera " slow mo " is a great way to film these birds when they come down so quick to get food
Firstly the people who run this farm/experience are wonderful. Fantastic communications throughout in regards parking and if suitable for my family. It was wonderful to see so many kites. The weather wasn't it's best but it was a great place for an afternoon coffee stop an to see the birds we they went into the small town an had a great lunch. Thank you for a wonderful experience this is a must if you love animals and or photography.
Went here on the Thursday (15th Aug), PS29 family ticket booked the night before as you can't go on the day like we did 9 years ago. I think I know why, it seemed a lot busier, the hide we booked (number 5) still had 12 places free at 9:30pm the night before however it was cramped on the day with lots of people who couldn't sit still. All seats taken, although I'd love to know if they were all booked for hide 5 as nobody checks. We got there and sat down around 2:30pm a good half an hour before, some time after a family arrived of around 8-10, the leader of the group sat down next to me looked straight at me and explained that "there are more people coming you know?" I wasn't sure what he meant by this and can only assume that he felt me and my family should move! I don't see why his statement should have any relevance to my position in the hide so I replied "oh is there" in a slightly bemused tone. We then sat next to each other in a slightly awkward silence for what turned out to be two hours as the kites were not so keen on coming down. They did in the end around 4:30pm. This brings me onto some other points. Cafe is steep, while the cake is very nice it's overpriced, lady who served us was a little abrupt. Overall I felt that this was not as good as it was 9 years ago and they're over selling the experience. I would be surprised if there was even half of the number of birds we see last time and where as on our first visit they nearly mugged the tractor driver by dive bombing as the food was distributed this time there was an awkward wait while we sat wondering if the birds would come down. I wouldn't return again sadly this has been turned into a huge profit exercise and more so than an experience to remember. For a few sausage rolls a couple of bits of cake and some tea with UHT milk (despite being on a farm) we managed to spend PS61 and sat in a shed with a man that took a dislike to me for 2 hours. Highlight was seeing the albino red kite. But do not recommend this to anyone. Think of more boycott they may revert back to how it was before.
