This chapel built in the late 1400s for pilgrims has scenic views of the Walks & is open seasonally.
A fascinating place to visit. We were lucky to find it open this Wednesday afternoon. It's been preserved quite well, the stairs are new - ish! And it's free to visit, which is always nice!
I am volunteering for the first time at the Red Mount. It's open May - September (closed for Autumn and Winter because of roosting bats). It is open between 1 and 4 pm initially on Wednesday and Saturday. Fascinating little place.

One of the most recognisable historic buildings in Lynn, The Red Mount Chapel is situated in The Walks, a public park. The chapel, built between 1483-85, was used by pilgrims travelling to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham which at the time, was the second most popular destination for pilgrims in England after Canterbury. The chapel is built to an octagonal plan and has three storeys, including the lower chapel (Ground Floor), the priest's room (First Floor), and an upper chapel (Second Floor) which was added in 1506. The upper chapel is decorated with an impressive fan-vaulted ceiling in ornate late Perpendicular Gothic style. Since it was closed for worship in the 1530's the chapel has had several uses including water storage, gunpowder store (during the Civil War) and a stable. Thanks to volunteers the Chapel is open to the public for a couple of days a week during the summer months.
A very relaxing place with lots of historic significance.
