This Local Nature Reserve is a 104-acre woodland site featuring a mix of ancient woodland, grassland, and scrub habitats. The woodland is dominated by oak, ash, and hazel trees, with a carpet of bluebells, wild garlic, and wood anemone in the spring. A variety of wildlife can be spotted, including tawny owls, kestrels, and butterflies such as the white admiral and meadow brown. The reserve also boasts a network of footpaths and bridleways, offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside.
The ridge woods is a lovely place for a dog walk whatever the weather (lots of well places poo bins). There's plenty of rope swings and 'climbing trees' to keep kids entertained. There's tree carvings go find, geocaches, there was even a fairy garden at one point! There's a stream in Jubilee park lovely for a paddle.
Great long walk with dog poo bins available. Plenty of space for children to adventure in. Would highly recommend, very pretty bluebells out at spring time.
Quite close to housing and we passed a huge Bond-esque industrial plant, but charming nonetheless and you can hear the birds sing. Many smaller paths leading here and there.
Good for kids
Dogs allowed
