Still worth a visit if you are just passing even if you have no connection but not that obvious to find (obliquely opposite the garden centre and hidden in the trees). Suggest you locate it on Google maps and use streetview to see the entrance). Refreshments on site. Oddly enough the open days (one a month in the summer season) doesn't give the times (1100 - 1600hrs)
On vacation from the US and stopped here on our way to Haverhill. Didn't realize it was open only one day per month so of course we missed it. There are a few items outside but it looks like most everything else is inside. It seems like its probably a nice small museum but the location is really weird. Seems to be right beside a dump or recycling center of some kind. Lots of people unloading stuff from vans while I was there. Junk piled everywhere. No sign along the road either so if you're not paying attention you'll drive right past.

I visited with my dad and cousin to see where my grandfather was stationed during the second world war, and was absolutely blown away by the reception we received. Sarah, Alan and Paul were there to greet us, and made us feel like guests of honor. Their collection of artifacts is amazing, and the people volunteering there are incredibly knowledgeable. They even took us on a walk and showed us where everything went on. I wish I could give this place 10 stars. Thank you so much to everyone who helps make this place what it is.
