Just love this place. So beautiful and picturesque. Parking well provided at higher levels. 100% don't drive to the bottom. Excellent fish n chips at bottom.off side street. Nice beach cafe. Excellent for rock.pooling with kids, but be tide time aware! Regular, reliable bus service along east coast. Just PS2 to Whitby. However The Cleveland Way is a lovely 7.5miles along the coast to Whitby
Amazing part of the UK. Stunningly beautiful bay. Excellent beach - low tide is distant and provides lots of rock pools. Dog friendly beach with all on best behaviour. Some were attracted to indulge in other people's games like a frisbee or the balls in boules. Ice-cream van sets up on the beach. There is a public toilet near the entrance to the each - free at time of use but it has charge facilities present though not in operation. When the tide goes out, one could go for quite a walk along the beach but would need to be cautious about the tide returning. The single road access to the beach is extremely steep - advice is to use parking at the top of this road. Beware of this for accessibility. Lots of steps around here. Beyond this, the beach area is fairly accessible. There are no supermarkets immediately available so use the local shops. People were very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit!
Quaint little seaside village with a beach where the water never seems to get too deep and quite a lot of rock that appears to be ideal for fossil hunters. There is some soft sand however and there are lots of rock pools especially when the tide is out which makes it ideal for families and kids. I of course had to have a little swim as I often do anywhere there is water. At high tide the sea comes virtually if not totally up to the cliffs. Recommended.
Absolutely beautiful place, steep hill with steps going down into the town from the car park. When the tide is out it's the perfect place for fossil hunters. There was an ice cream truck as you got on the beach to start of your walk. Dog friendly beach!
Gorgeous place full of charm and character, beautiful village and nice rocky beach with with pools perfect for bathing and playing with the dog. There's 3 museums too which we missed this time but will definitely be going again soon.
First time visiting the bay it was fascinating the way it has been built over hundreds of years, and the cottages are amazing shapes and sizes the steep hill is a lot easier going down I assure you it well worth a vist
