Roddlesworth Woods is a scenic woodland area in Lancashire, England, featuring a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees, including oak, beech, and pine. The woods offer several walking trails, including the 2-mile Roddlesworth Woods Trail, which takes visitors through the forest and along the River Roddlesworth. The area is home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, bats, and insects, and is particularly popular for birdwatching. The woods also contain several ancient monuments, including the Roddlesworth Cross, a medieval stone cross, and the remains of a 12th-century motte-and-bailey castle.
Lots of trails through the woods. Most are alongside streams. Dog friendly. Large circular walks round the reservoirs. Recommend finding the Ramblers Cafe if you need to refuel.
Been coming here for years, excellent walking area, suitable footwear required in wet conditions as can get really muddy. Great for dogs that's also like water as plenty of water running through. Make as long or as short as you want different paths and routes...great for the kids exploring in the woods. Cafe and a pub next to the car park. Definitely recommended
Used the All Trails app to walk a circular route, past Darwen Tower and through Roddlesworth Woods. The walk was pleasant- even in the rain and mud.
Lovely place to walk around. Lots of routes to take. Definitely recommend it
Lovely walk. Great place to go. Busy place, not a lot of spaces to park. People were parked all along the verge on both sides, so that wasn't good.
Amazing walk and lovely scenery. Lots of friendly locals to ask for directions
