The Roman Helmet is a remarkably well-preserved ancient artifact discovered in 1905 in a ditch in Northamptonshire, England. Dating back to the 1st century AD, this rare treasure is one of only three Roman cavalry helmets found in Britain. The helmet is made of iron and features a distinctive face mask, a neck guard, and a plume holder on top. Its intricate design showcases the skill of Roman metalwork, with engravings of foliage and other decorative elements. The helmet is a testament to the Roman Empire's influence on British history and culture.
Not much to see but worth a stop off if you are in thr area.
We drove up to take some pictures of the Roman Helmet and read about the history whilst visiting other places. There is a bench with a good view.
It's big!!! You don't realise it's there It's at the top of a road. There is a hilltop walk you do too.
I walked past it and didn't realise what it was until the 3rd time i had walked past . Looks good not worth coming long way just to see it but it's nicely made .carry on up the path and you come too some gardens and 2 really nice wooden figures looking out to the sea .
Good steep walk beautiful views fantastic piece of sculpture stunning views you can see the whole of Prestatyn from here
Not quite sure why this is where it is, seems like it is a tenuous gesture/link to the Roman era of Prestatyn. It's half a Roman helmet made of metal lying on its side on a patch of grass in a housing estate. I would have given it two stars but there is a nice bench to sit on and as the helmet is half way up the hillside you get a brilliant view over the town looking out to see.
Good for kids
Dogs allowed
