This hidden gem is a former mill site turned nature reserve, boasting a rich history and diverse wildlife. The tranquil atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing stroll, with the gentle rustle of trees and chirping of birds creating a soothing soundtrack. The reserve's varied habitats, including woodland, grassland, and wetland, support a wide range of flora and fauna, making it a haven for nature lovers and photographers. The remnants of the old mill add an air of industrial heritage, while the scenic views of the surrounding countryside provide a picturesque backdrop.
Oh my word what a hidden gem! Free car park, beautiful scenery, quiet walk, two parks for kids, a dog walking area and an on lead walk around the lakes. Sheer perfection.. my pup and I loved it!
Such a wonderful place. We had a lovely walk and did some blackberry picking, feed the ducks and swan with proper food just for them. Saw plenty of birds and dragon flys and ended up in the park a great few hours and no parking fees.
Loved this place. I walk and hike a lot and it was a real pleasure. However, I didn't walk as far as I would have liked because this place is infested with rats! I encountered many and they were not frightened by me. I left the path around the lakes and went up onto the field area with the little play park and once again, encountered several more rats there. Had enough and finally left early. So sad as I am sure they would frighten other, more natural indigenous wild life, from living there
Haven't got pictures of the whole reserve but it's such a beautiful place in winter and in the summer to have a stroll. Plenty to see when walking on your own, with family or just taking the dog/Dogs for a lovely long refreshing walk by the lake.
Andover's little slice of heaven. I regularly visit. A lush and beautiful lake, with a bounty of wildlife (it is a pleasure to watch the cygnets/goslings/ducklings grow!), and despite being able to hear the nearby A303...is very peaceful. There is a good amount of benches, bins and the paths are clear and have minimal litter. One side of the lake is a dog-free "gated" wildlife path. Back towards town is a large field with plenty of dog/child play areas. The River Anton splits and runs through the backs of the residential areas, leading back to town..it is simply blissful to walk through and I have yet to get bored of this amazing place.. I also have been extremely lucky enough to spot the local Eurasian Otter family in the evening!
A very pleasant area and a good place for humans to stroll. Good for dog walkers too. The water in the river and lakes was totally clear today. Easy parking, both in their car park and in a handily sited layby in the road.
