This reserve features a unique landscape of rounded hills, valleys, and wetlands, formed by the last ice age. The hills are covered in heather, bracken, and gorse, while the valleys are home to wetland plants, such as reeds and sedges. The reserve is a habitat for a variety of wildlife, including birds like the nightjar, Dartford warbler, and skylark, as well as insects like the silver-studded blue butterfly and the southern damselfly. The site also contains several Bronze Age burial mounds and ancient field systems, offering a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage.
Stunning views, worth the climb :)
Beautiful place. It took us about 20mins to scramble up to the top, not too difficult and it was absolutely worth the climb. Fabulous 360deg views. Been twice now. Parking available at the bottom.
Good info boards. Path up can be a bit steep but short way down very steep! Fantastic views all round, Cader Idris mountain can be seen to west.
A two hr walk. Two hill tops to climb. Not difficult but not easy. A few areas or marsh land so good wellies or boots are needed. Really large car park to start and well marked out. A few of the walking post are hiding or missin so you do need to pay attention. Lots of sheep trails that may confuse you otherwise. We had a lovely walk with stunning views over Churchstoke.
Beautiful views if you can make the climb to the top. Access to the parking is via a narrow single road, gate and brook.
