Visit the historic home of Greenwich Mean Time, stand on the world-famous Prime Meridian Line, and come to London's only Planetarium for out-of-this-world live astronomy shows and events.
The Royal Observatory Greenwich is a must-visit for anyone interested in astronomy and history. The views of the city from the top are absolutely stunning, providing a panoramic glimpse of London's skyline. Finding the Prime Meridian line can be a bit of a task, but standing on the meridian is a picturesque and memorable experience. The observatory's exhibits are fascinating, and the overall visit is both educational and rewarding. Highly recommended for the breathtaking views and the unique opportunity to straddle the Prime Meridian! This is also included in Go city London Pass
Great place to view the history of both astronomy in stars and time. A place to experience the centre of time. Tour guides were excellent and gave in depth knowledge of the subjects as well as able to answer any questions that were asked. Small tour groups with free talks available. Would thoroughly recommend
GMT - very good experience. You can cover the National Maritime Museum+ Greenwich Park + High Streets + Exhibitions + Cool Food courts. It will be fun with family and friends.
Not really worth the PS20 entrance fee, but was still pretty nice. Get there early when they first open to avoid most of the crowd. Cafe is a bit lacking in variety and quality; prices are a bit high too. There is a nice cafe down the hill at the Maritime Museum, I'd recommend that if you're needing food.
Really interesting site, majestic building of observatory and planetarium, was really surprised to see Gagarin's name over there. The only thing is you can't reach the Prime Meridian unless you're paying PS20 for a tour to Observatory. I didn't want to go to the Observatory but to the Prime Meridian, and was asked to pay nevertheless. Didn't go there, and was quite disappointed because made quite a trip from South West London. Otherwise everything is good.
The home of GMT on a hill in Greenwich Park, is not worth the entrance fee. As museums go I found it crowded in places with too much info to take in. And walking up and down some of the narrow stairs felt dangerous. A group of primary school children wanted to see the Great Equatorial Telescope but teachers decided spend some time assessing whether it wasn't safe to take a large group of children on the narrow stairs. Some of the time pieces were interesting but for me the most interesting items were the boards with statements about time. I think you pay extra for the planetarium show and there wasn't a tour on while I was there. Another highlight was walking up the hill and seeing Canary Wharf in the distance!
