The Rural Life Museum tells the story of the countryside, its collection of re-located historic buildings allow visitors to explore inside, complemented by one of the largest collections of agricultural implements and objects from everyday life. We take you on a journey of nostalgia and discovery suitable for all the family. The museum produces and hosts special events, from the annual Rustic Sunday through to Weyfest. Our railway operates steam and diesel locomotives on passenger rides. (please check availability.) Set in 10 acres of open space and woodland, there are places to shelter when it rains, a picnic area and secluded benches to take a break. The Old Kiln Cafe serves a wide variety of fare to complete a fantastic family day out!
We visited this place in April 2024. I enjoyed the playground. I am glad that adults are allowed to play and enjoy the playground equipment. One of my favourites was the School Room was because I enjoyed looking at the desks and hearing the floor creak underneath my feet. I also have an interest in learning environments and there was an area which showcased a Nature Table. The Chapel was just lovely and it would be nice to sit on there for a bit and read a book. I recommend this place and it is somewhere that people can attend on multiple occasions and find something new to enjoy.
Bit of a cold windy day but still enjoyed our visit. Staff were all very pleasant. Loved the little church The renovated old buildings were wonderful and some of the rooms settings bought back memories from my grandparents and other relatives homes. My auntie used to live in a prefab house in Coventry. Plenty of free parking. Well worth the visit
Very interesting place to visit. Wonderful displays of life how it was, makes you appreciate how hard yet worthwhile things were. Live demonstrations too, and very helpful friendly staff and volunteers and a good cafe as well. Lots for everyone of all ages, good flat access for all.
What a great place. Lots to see and do. Great for kids. We really enjoyed our visit. Sandwiches were lovely from the Cafe too. Additional cost to ride the train.
A wonderful place for all the family. We visited at the weekend of the Village at War event, which recreates and commemorates the part played by the local area in the run up to DDay. The museum has a number of working exhibits recreating rural crafts and machinery including a saw mill. There is also a small narrow guage railway that runs around the site.
Rural museum, enter free for anyone! Good place to spend a half day, there is a pic nic area, also a cafe (croissant+coffe 3.50PS). Very interesting thing to see about the rural life. F
