Rushmere Country Park is a fabulous site with over 400 acres of stunning woodland, heathland and meadows for walking, cycling, horse riding and wildlife with cafe, visitor center and events. Managed by environmental charity The Greensand Trust on a not for profit basis - we rely on your support for our work.
Absolutely will be going back here. The tree top cafe is lovely, and the coffee is yummy. The walk is so peaceful and the wildlife is so friendly. The ducks come so close to you, and we had 2 young squirrels getting close to us as well. Perfect for kids or dog walks or just to get away for a bit.
Firstly, this place gets RIDICULOUSLY busy at weekends and bank holidays. People were circling for ages looking for a parking space. There are car parks, but there arnt marked spaces, so it's a bit of a free for all. It's ANPR on entrance. Gates close at 8pm Up to 20 minutes free 20 mins- 1 hour - PS2 1 hour - 3 hours PS4 Over 3 hours is PS6. You pay when you leave via the app or the kiosk. .the queue again, was massive. There is a cafe, and some picnic benches, again, massive queues and no free tables on our visit. I'd suggest taking a picture of the map before you begin walking, as its very big, and the walks are not sign posted well, so it would be easy to get lost. The paths are OK in some places, other areas are very muddy. Dogs are welcome, although on lead required. Toilets available. A nice place to visit, but avoid during peak hours, and bring the correct footwear, especially in the winter.
Beautiful area full of wildlife and very tall trees. Nice for families, for walking, hiking, cycling...dog friendly, picnic area. There are toilets in the visitors centre. Car park is not free. You can pay on the app or on the machine prior to leaving. No ticket required. Nice cafe with tables inside and also outside to enjoy the amazing views.
It's a very beautiful place for walk and picnic. Large area of woodland with lots of trails that you can explore. It's moderately hilly and some trails are quite steep. Picnic area is also great. This place is very well kept and we enjoyed our afternoon walk there. Parking is not free.
Great area with woods and parkland perfect for getting out in the fresh air. Lots of trails off though the woods, some are quite steep too! A touch muddy still after the rain but all paths are passable. Dedicated mountain bike area too which, maybe chargeable? Great for all the family to get some exercise. Look out for the resident heron on the lake. Coffee shop and toilets on site but I didn't go there.
It was a very quiet day when we visited and the massive car parks were mainly empty so we had the park too ourselves. The Azalea's were in full bloom and it was quiet and not muddy on the paths. The restaurant was ok, we had a Panini each. Friendly staff and a nice view from the balcony. The Herons and their young were fairly grown up now ( late May). We both said that on a busy day the place might seem crowded and less tranquil. We were lucky.
