One of the oldest purpose built museums in the UK. Extensive collections of social history, archaeology and natural history. Regular exhibitions, events, activities and learning sessions for schools and community groups.
Cheap, small museum which is good for kids. Doesn't take too long to go round so they are less likely to get bored and they had little explorer rucksacks. There were quite a few kid height exhibits with signs saying dont touch though, and given that they are kid height that is quite a lot to ask of a small child. There is a mummy which is proportionate in size to the museum. There are some very creepy dolls. Dont look them in the eye.
What a great museum. Lovely staff. Superb range of exhibits, lots of items of local interest. Very good value for money. Will definitely visit again.
The museum caught us by suprise! Its an amazing place with tons of diversity! Its only 2,50 per adult and you have so much to see and learn! 10/10 would visit again!
This place has something for everyone. It's truly a little gem. As someone over 65 only paid PS1.25 to get in and it's worth so much more.
Great museum, surprisingly large and lots of exhibits from local things to natural history and world history. Spent about an hour wandering round which for PS2.50 entry is a great price!
This place is well worth a look very interesting indeed and much bigger than I thought . I didn't allow myself enough time to see it all properly and shall have to return . The staff are very welcoming and friendly . For a local museum the information and displays are amazing . Only one section is exclusively about Saffron Walden which is very interesting but it takes you on a trip through time and Continents . I came especially to see the Anglo Saxon gold ring but was excited to see a coin of Harold Godwinson . But there is much Much more here most enjoyable . But remember allow a bit more time than I did .
