Sandringham is the much-loved country retreat of His Majesty The King, and has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862. The house, set in 24 hectares of stunning gardens, is perhaps the most famous stately home in Norfolk and is at the heart of the 8,000-hectare Sandringham Estate. The House and garden open every year from April to October, except for certain days ( please see the website for details). The restaurant, gift shop and 600 acre Royal Parkland with way marked trails and play area are open every day, except Christmas day.
Great family day out. Free entry for children to the garden and house. The house is interesting to walk around and obviously full of recent royal history, the stables too. The gardens are beautiful , and free to roam around. We enjoyed a picnic by the lake. The church is worth popping into as it's beautiful. Followed the full walk around the gardens which leads back outside of the gardens to a children's play area which is large and plenty to explore.
Went to Sandringham whilst on holiday. Had a lovely time the gardens were lovely to walk around. The house was amazing, and the guides were welcoming and very knowledgeable and answered all the questions .well worth going down to look at the stables and have a coffee and look at some cars and a fire engine. And also to walk up to the church. Lovely time.

Amazing estate and you can have a great day out and just pay for parking if you want. Great walking trails, a huge play area, food, drink, shop, mini-golf, gin bar and ice cream - what more could you want! We didn't go into the house or gardens but there's still plenty to do to keep the kids entertained and it's great for a picnic on a summer's day.
Beautiful gardens and insightful house that gives you a glimpse of how the royals live. A must if you love the royal family! Fantastic play area too!
It was a few years ago when we last visited, but the grounds were absolutely beautiful (there were crowds of people for miles) Super family and dog friendly, Sandringham also had a lovely onsite cafe! The views and the landscape was so stunning! I was blown away.. These were some of the photos we captured during our visit.. with the tributes (from a few years ago to our late queen)
