We love our castles so couldn't miss an opportunity to visit this one. You can see the place from miles away as it's located on top of a cliff overlooking the harbour. The castle ruins isn't the biggest but the grounds it's in is a fair size and included in the price is an audio guide that gives the history. The views from all sides are absolutely amazing both looking in land and along the coast and out to see. Was a lovely day and wish we brought a picnic as plenty of space to sit down, and admire the view with the cool sea breeze. There is small cafe and ice cream van at the top and it's dog friendly.
Beautiful beautiful panoramic views of Scarborough. Lots of level walking, steps to get up towers. Great disabled access, although getting there is quite some event in itself!
We had a lovely day at Scarborough castle. We went for the knight's festival which was excellent. Lots of activities on the hour. The castle is nice and great views over Scarborough. I would recommend going on a good weather day as it's quite exposed. The special event was great value for money and we really spent 4 hrs there. Obviously it would have been a shorter visit without the knight event. Food/drink stalls a bit pricey. Lots of well priced toys/gifts.
Absolutely enjoyed this. Booked tickets on-line & got a discount. As I am disabled, but don't have a blue badge, I called and asked if I could use their disabled parking - no problem. I also booked The Tramper - a heavy-duty mobility scooter - booked through the Tramper web-site it cost me PS3 & worth every penny. Staff were friendly & very helpful - could not fault. A special shout out to Connor who assisted with the Tramper & I think Julian, but I'm not sure. Site is stunning & covers so much history. There are free guided tours as well. Some areas are off-limits to the Tramper, but you can see most of the site. Views are exceptional. Totally enjoyed the visit & would recommend booking the Tramper if you are disabled. These need to be available in more places.
Another brilliant castle with plenty of history. Great staff on site who are more than happy to share there knowledge with visitors. Plenty of wide open spaces for children to run around in. The views over Scarborough from the castle are amazing. Definitely worth a visit.
Brilliant morning out, loads of beautiful view points around the grounds Lots to explore around the castle and in the castle itself. Good facilities - toilets and cafes all nice although a little pricey. We got 2 kids meals and at PS5ish each the quality was amazing. All staff were friendly and helpful.
