A great introduction to Edinburgh and beautiful vistas from the floors above. Appreciated that the entry ticket was reasonable given the short and sweet experience of climbing the stairs and enjoying the vistas. The tour was just the right timing with plenty of opportunity to take photos and simply enjoy the views from all angles. I enjoyed learning the history of Walter Scot and his contribution to Scottish culture. I wonder if this could've been a bit more involved or extended across the tour. Also, given the 360 degree views of many spots around Edinburgh, I would've liked maybe a brief mention of what we were able to see from the viewing areas to learn some more of the Edinburgh landscape from such a good vantage point.

I've been up the monument years ago, before they only started allowing people up it on tours. The experience of this monument was much better before. Though the tour guides are lovely, you don't get long to really appreciate the monument and the views since tours only last about 25 minutes. The upper level is also now off-limits. The price as well (about PS7/person) seems like too much for what little time you get up there. The views, however, are amazing. It's worth going up the monument once but no more than that considering the price and restrictions.

So worth while! Having been to Edinburgh a number of times, this was on my bucket list and I was so pleased we managed to get on a guided tour. We strolled by in the morning and reserved/paid for an afternoon tour. Our small group enjoyed 30 minutes accompanied by an experienced guide who gave us a brief history and led us up the 221 steps to the 3rd stage for amazing views. Access to the 4th and final stage is forbidden. I can understand why some may feel claustrophobic. Definite recommendation.
