Enjoy great days out at the seaside. We are an award-winning, marine education and conservation charity and visitor attraction based in the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick. Soak up the incredible sea views from our cafe and sun deck, browse the sustainable products in our gift shop and experience the spectacular local wildlife, including iconic seabird species like puffins and gannets, from one of our seasonal boat trips. The interactive Discovery Experience is temporarily closed due to flood damage. We have free, family friendly, drop activities in our boat office space and outdoor events while our main exhibition space is closed. All income supports our work as a conservation and education charity. Thank you.
The boat trip was an excellent experience and I highly recommend it. I went with my 8 year old and we sat at the front with the very knowledgeable guide, Ian, who talked about the birds and some local history. You will get very up close to birds on 3 islands, might even see seals and dolphins. I think you need to go earlier in the day to see more seals. It was a sunny afternoon and we only got lightly sprayed but I recommend that you wear a windproof jacket as the high speed means you will get very cold otherwise! We bought tickets that morning for the late afternoon trip, and I noticed all the earlier trips were fully booked. Around 11 passengers fit on the boat, which has very comfortable pods seats that you straddle like a horse.
Took the 3 Islands RIB tour and absolutely loved it! Our guide Sophie was super lovely and clearly very passionate and knowledgeable, and we saw some amazing wildlife. Highly recommend!
Beautiful views across to Craigleith and Bass Rock which has an enormous gannet colony. There's a viewpoint so take binoculars. There are regular boat trips for those who fancy a closer look. The visitor centre has plenty of information and souvenirs and there's a lovely cafe with a great view.
Park on any street in this lovely town and walk. We got lucky by the sea. Eat inside, peruse the collectibles, and use the facilities. Take your binoculars and walk to the pier to peer across, squinting for those cute puffons nesting or flying.
Make sure to take the rib boat tour! We got absolutely soaked and had an epic time. What an adrenaline rush soaring on top of those waves. The tour guide was super friendly and knowledgeable. But your tickets in advance, as they sell out. The highlight of our Scotland trip, for sure!
Unfortunately the exhibition is closed due to flooding (the harbour wall shows how strong the responsible storm was) but the cafe is great and the views worth a visit. It does get busy though. We booked a trip out to Bass Rock on one of their boats. Well worth doing at this time of year - I have never seen so many seabirds in one concentrated spectacle.
