I recently had the pleasure of hiring a boat from Scudamore Quayside Punting, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. I want to particularly highlight the service provided by Jack, who made our outing truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, Jack was professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful. He ensured that our boat was in perfect condition, took the time to explain all safety features, and provided us with a thorough briefing on how to operate the boat. His customer service skills are top-notch. Jack's enthusiasm and passion for his work were evident, and it made a significant difference in our overall experience. We felt well taken care of and appreciated his attention to detail. I highly recommend Scudamore Quayside Punting and especially Jack if you are looking for a seamless and enjoyable boat hire experience. We will definitely be returning customers thanks to his outstanding service. Thank you, Jack, for making our day on the water unforgettable!
A great way to see river cam and the colleges nearby. You can do a guided punting tour, punt yourself or rent a kayak! We did the guided punting tour and a week later rented a kayak for 90 minutes. It was so much fun!
We were dying to do a punting boat tour whilst in Cambridge, and we were luckily approached by one of the sales people for Scudamore's. We managed to wangle tickets for PS20 each, which we were thrilled with. We set off straight away, and were given blankets and hot water bottles to keep us toasty in the crisp cold weather. Our captain was Ryan, and he was absolutely FANTASTIC. He was very easy to listen to, and had a wonderful informative and natural script throughout the entire tour. We learnt an unbelievable amount of information from from, and it was all explained in such an easy way to understand, thank you SO much Ryan, you made that tour!! Had a great time, so glad we got to do a tour, and we would recommend to anyone!
Amazing private punt with the very knowledgable Dave favourite bit information was Byron's knickname for Wordsworth...Turdsworth
I would recommend to hire a punt or canoe to go upriver, towards Grantchester. The water is cleaner and the landscape is bucolic. They have conversations for students and for members of Cambridge colleges.
We were very disappointed by our punting tour. Our guide gave us no real interesting informations (no mention at all about the name of the bridges we saw and very few about the colleges). And when he occasionnally did, it was in a very fast and low voice, which was hard to understand for us, 6 French tourists in the opposite side of the boat. We asked him to speak more slowly but he did it only 2mn and went on, paying no attention to us, concentrating on the 4 English tourists on board. We really think we had rather rent a punt on our own, it would have been cheaper and really not less interesting. And one more flaw, which this time has nothing to do with Scudamore, the Cam was overcrowded when we did our tour. Avoid the busy hours, try early in the morning or in the evening to really enjoy the experience. Nothing more disappointing than to be 3 punts side by side, bumping in each other, all the tour.
