A picturesque beach with golden sand and calm waters, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing. The beach is surrounded by stunning cliff formations, with dramatic rock faces and scenic views. Visitors can enjoy water sports, beach walks, and picnics, as well as explore the nearby Seaham Harbour and historic town centre.
We enjoyed an hour on the beach here. The dog enjoyed a run and I loved joined the masses hunting for some elusive sea glass. The sea glass phenomenon here is due to its location to the former bottle factory that was close by. I took a handful away with me but looking around many others meant much more serious business as they had sacks and spades and brushes!
A nice beach to walk along with an excellent reputation as a place to collects seaglass. Most of the glass seems very small to me, but we met someone who showed us some of the amazing glass pebbles he'd got there. It is usually pretty busy by the car park. The steps down to the beach from the car park will make you out of puff. I like the seastack at the end. Not my favourite beach in the area but a good 'North East experience' place.
Free parking and the dogs loved it . Yes it's very stoney so not a beach to take your beach towel to but very interesting to walk on ..we did find a few of the coloured glass washed out of the sea which was exciting..so all in all a good beach to explore.
Spent a fab 3 hours here sea glass collecting with the kids. Easy to park and cheap parking, PS3 all day, bargain when you come from Whitby!
Great beach. When the tide is low, you can enjoy a long stretch of the beach for a walk, or like many do sit down and just enjoy. There is a charge for parking now. PS3 for the whole day, or PS1 for an hour or PS2 for two hours. This ensures that there is more parking availability.
Overnight stay, got a few pieces of glass and pirate glass. Amazing beach
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Good for kids
