This tranquil area of woodland and grassland is home to a variety of wildlife, including deer, birds, and butterflies. A network of walking trails and bridleways crisscross the common, offering scenic views of the surrounding countryside. The landscape is dotted with ancient trees, some of which are believed to be hundreds of years old. On a clear day, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the nearby Cotswolds hills.
I love the view of Stroud down in the valley as it changes with the clouds. My dog Buddy and I join the Sunday doggy day care group with 20 dogs running around off leash and having maximum doggy zoomies. Beware the occasional "meadow muffin". Buddy loves to roll around in them: we bring a towel for that and muddy feet. Gliders often take off into the wind off the hill.
Great for dog walks very friendly people too.
Lovely, just lovely. The view is quite amazing, looking at Stonehouse in the mid distance, the River Severn then Wales beyond. Great area for walking, running, cycling, picnicing or taking your cute dog out.
Lots of walking paths to choose from. Be mindful of cattle grazing freely and steep drop offs just off some of the footpaths. Scenery upon the hills are amazing as on a clear day you can see some of the high peaks of South Wales. Do take all your rubbish with you when leaving. Enjoy.
Brilliant views across the river Severn. Can see the Malvern Hills 42 miles away. Lots of skylarks performing. Free parking.
Fabulous views from this enormous lump south west of Stroud. Easy access and loads of room to roam on top. Great for kids. The church at the bottom with the William Morris windows is worth popping into to see too.
