A scenic hiking destination in the Northumberland National Park, featuring a rugged landscape of crags, cliffs, and rocky outcrops, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the Coquetdale Valley.
Shaftoe crags is an outstanding area to explore. For trig-baggers there's a trig point; you will also find the devil's punchbowl and the jubilee stone as you explore. See if you can find the hidden cave too. There are also magnificent views in offer, on a clear day you will see Wallington Hall and Cambo's Holy Trinity Church, and the Simonside Hills. The Crags are well worth a visit...
Love to walk around here. Around 3 mile circular
Nice walk out on a brisk day. Not the place to go for a quiet walk though as there must have been 40 cars parked in the field as we got there. Great views from the top and some good bouldering spots for the climbers.
Went to see if there was any climbs I could do as a starter for out doors for me. I found a couple and I am going to go bakc to try them again. Fantastic little walk around. Had a bit of lunch in the sun.
Nice walking area, comfortable climb to the top of the crags, great views out over Northumberland.
Great for walking around on your own/with the family. Even better if you're a climber/boulderer. Tons to have a go on. Park sensibly and look out for the cows. Take all rubbish home with you. Clean chalk carefully from the rock too!
