Sheepdrove allows both full burial and ashes interment in an undisturbed final resting place. Family and friends are very welcome to gather both before or after the burial at the beautiful sustainable green events venue on our organic family farm where we host both intimate or larger celebrations of life and wakes. The burial ground is a peaceful place to say goodbye and to return and remember loved ones. Come and visit - the paths through the woodland are perfect for a gentle stroll in nature and you are welcome any time. Sheepdrove Burial Wood sits high on the windswept chalk downland at the cross roads of four drovers' ridgeways. This ancient and hallowed landscape is part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We have known the Sheepdrove team for a number of years; they could not have been more helpful and empathetic to our needs, with everything going to plan on the day. Allison Cooke was our main point of contact; her reply to all our requests, was "yes, I can" followed by a discussion about how best to implement our wishes. The burial site is one of the most peaceful places one could find and felt very natural place to lay our father to rest.
My wife and I recently buried our son Alastair at Sheepdrove after he sadly passed away shortly after his birth in March. Neither my wife or I are religious but, we knew we wanted Alastair to be buried somewhere beautiful and peaceful. Having held our wedding at Sheepdrove previously it already held a special place in our hearts and we knew that it would be a fitting place for Alastair to be laid to rest. Obviously this was a very emotional time for us but we were in safe hands with Alli and Nadine at Sheepdrove. They talked us through what we needed to do in the run up to the funeral and made sure that it was everything we needed. We really appreciated Nadine's recommendation of Bellacouche for their wool felt coffin which was beautiful. We also really appreciated Alli who very thoughtfully brought along some fresh rosemary to the funeral as it is known as the herb of remembrance. On the day of the funeral, the sunny weather meant that the views from the red barn were particularly spectacular and it made the whole burial ground feel very special. Sheepdrove is somewhere we can, in a strange way, look forward to returning to and seeing how it changes through the seasons. It definitely feels a part of our family. We would both like to say a big thank you to everyone at Sheepdrove for looking after us so well, we really appreciated it.
Our father was laid to rest at the natural woodland burial site at Sheedrove. Allison made a difficult time so much easier with her flexibility and support in making arrangements by providing a list of suppliers au fait with a natural burial. We held a service in the Oakroom before making the short walk to the burial wood which is set in a peaceful location with stunning views across the Berkshire countryside. We returned to the farm for the wake which we had exclusive use of and it meant we were able to celebrate our father's life without any distractions or logistics to consider - Sheepdrove were able to facilitate the whole day - I cannot imagine a better send off for dad.
Held my Mums Celebration Service at Sheepdrove, it is such a lovely setting, everyone commented on how lovely it is. And Mum was buried here 2 years before (in the lockdown) and again, it is such a lovely setting, so peaceful and natural, just what Mum wanted. And everyone who has visited Mums final resting place, commented how lovely it is ... The service from Sheepdrove is perfect too ... all the staff are lovely and helpful
Compassionate, caring and beautiful. They made everything easy for us for my husband's funeral and burial. Thank you Alison and the team
