Sheringham, on the beautiful North Norfolk coast, has a recorded history that stretches back over a thousand years. The Museum tells the story of the town and its proud, brave, independent people, told through beautiful displays packed with interesting things to see, hear and do. Many visitors are surprised by the size of the Museum which is spread over three floors, and is much bigger than it appears from outside. You can easily spend an hour and a half exploring its quirky corners.
Visited today, and loved everything about it. From a disability standpoint in particular, it was genuinely wonderful to be able to easily access 90% of the museum without issue (Mobility Scooter/Wheelchair access to 90% of the museum). Getting to access so much of the exhibit space was great, and they were all truly fascinating.
Very well laid out museum with great replicas of old shops and homes from back in the day. PS5 entrance is great value as well.
A lot to see and things for children to do such as outfits to try on, activities to try. Views across the beach from the lookout tower. Friendly welcoming staff. Quiet relaxed atmosphere. Lovely museum.
We were absolutely shocked to discover how interesting this museum was showing the history of Sheringham. The museum is a lot bigger than you expect and is reasonably priced which is why we went in. They had lots of lifeboats on show and a tower that overlooked the bay which amazing picture opportunity
We visited the museum two weeks ago whilst on holiday in Norfolk. An absolutely fascinating museum with something for everyone and all ages. Well worth visiting. There are lifts on all floors so it is fully accessible to wheel chair users. I especially liked the section on Doggerland and seeing some local fossils from this area.
Great Museum! packed full of interesting things. Perfect for wet weather but also great if you want to get away from the beach and reasonably priced, the tickets last all day so you can come and go for food or fresh air with kids.
