A stones's throw from the Neolithic Village of Skara Brae and in the grounds of Skaill House, Orkney's grand (and haunted) mansion. Skaill House Falconry is the Northern Isles only Bird of Prey Centre providing a fantastic, interactive, informative and educational fun experience for kids and grown ups alike. Featuring Owls, Hawks, Falcons and a Crested Caracara (also known as the Mexican Eagle). Our small and friendly family run falconry business prides itself on giving a personal and unique day out for all.
Very enjoyable and informative experience. Andrea and Keith are engaging, friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable about their birds and falconry. The birds are clearly loved and very well cared for; they are also stunning looking birds. Thank you for being so hospitable; loved it!
We spent the most delightful two hours with Andrea and Keith learning about birds of prey, observing them up close and watching them fly. Falconry was one of the top things I wanted to experience during my trip to Scotland and Skaill House was the perfect experience. Thank you Andrea and Keith!
A fantastic experience which is run by people who clearly adore their job and the birds they work with. Holding an eagle owl and a barn owl were both real highlights.
We had a fantastic intimate encounter with the beautiful owls - Odin, Skara, Peedie and also Ivar the Harris hawk and Stanley, the clever Caracara! All the birds are much loved and cared for by the lovely couple who are knowledgeable and friendly. Thank you! I highly recommend the owl handling experience! Odin is our favourite, although he is so heavy
Great place to see a selection of raptors and owls. A knowledgeable couple run it and are really helpful and friendly. We went on a fairly windy day so they couldn't fly the hawks but our two children and ourselves managed to hold two of their owls. Great seeing them up close, we've been to other bird displays but this one great as it was fairly quiet and we were there with the birds on our own. Kids and adults were delighted so so uld recommend a visit here.
Skaill house gives a fascinating insight into life lived by a wealthy Orkney family. Some lovely examples of furniture, china, pictures and photograohs and memorabilia of the families. We did not visit the falconry but the house is definitely worth a visit
