We tell the story of a unique site with 2 windmills and a waterwheel, stepped in history. We preserve these national monuments. Our heritage centre in the Watermill building is filled with charm and character, offering a warm welcome, a cafe, indoor and outdoor dinning, a gift and craft shop, rooms for hire, art gallery and Saturday farmers market. Skerries Mills is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise and our aim to provide benefits to the local community through a variety of activities and we host a community garden. The Watermill Cafe is open 7 days a week, tours also operate every day year round, access to the monuments is by guided tour only.
We had a fantastic day exploring the Skerris Mills Heritage Museum! The tour provided a comprehensive overview of the museum's history and the process of grain milling. The highlight was definitely the ancient windmills from the 1400s and 1500s. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and took the time to walk us through each historical moment, making the experience both educational and enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone interested in history and heritage!
