About
Slaggan Ruinen is a collection of ancient stone circles and burial cairns scattered across a remote moorland in the Scottish Highlands. The site features several large stone circles, some with stones reaching over 3 meters tall, surrounded by smaller cairns and scattered rocks. The landscape is rugged and windswept, with heather-covered moors stretching as far as the eye can see. The atmosphere is eerie and peaceful, with the only sounds being the rustling of the wind through the heather and the occasional call of a bird.

To visit Slaggan Bay you need to walk or cycle three miles in and then three miles back out again. It is well and truly worth it. We visited on Easter Saturday and we had this fantastic remote beach to ourselves. On route you pass a ruined cottage a reminder of a generation that once lived and worked the land here. Brilliant location and the track is extremely good most of the way, some muddy sections as there had been rain. Please come prepared there are no facilities and the weather can change so quickly.
Cycled over broad track to Slaggan which was a dimple ruin of an old cottage
Great place for a walk with stunning views of wildlife and the hills 57.8866,-5.56536 - parking here for a ~10k out and back walk to the bay
