Currently blocked off due to landslide and fallen trees however people had been in and walked around. Take extreme care if it's still closed off. This will take a maximum of an hour to walk a a slow pace. There are a lot of stairs, but hand rails and seating areas part way for rest breaks if required.
Todays trip was to Sloughan Glen Waterfalls. We turned off the main road and drove along a road that had a few potholes and it was a bit tight when other vehicles passed so I would suggest you drive carefully and look at the road more as the scenery can be distracting. After about 4 miles you turn off onto a smaller, one track road until you come to the small car park. There are approximately 20 steps from the car park down to the path or you can walk back along the road to the gate at the start of the path. The path is a gravel/ woodland path, so in some parts uneven and steep. The friend that was with me has a bad knee so only managed to walk to the first view point so I don't think it is suitable for persons with mobility issues but it's up to the individual. I carried on to the top, the first set of steps from the first view point was about 70 steps and then there was a steep walk in parts to the next steps and so on until the top. If there had been more rain the waterfall would have probably been more spectacular but compared to the videos/ pictures I've seen, today was a bit of a let down. Overall it's a nice forested area with a stream and waterfall that is peaceful and when visitors come over I will take them there but I will bring along a flask and sandwiches and stop off at one of the picnic benches that were dotted around.
This used to be a lovely place for a walk. Sadly has fallen into somewhat dereliction, we weren't able to walk due to a mud slide blocking off the steps, (has been there for several months judging by another's review), loads of overgrown weeds by picnic tables and also rubbish, graffiti etc. Hopefully the council will restore it with some TLC.
This place is no longer open to the public because of rock fall. There's a small free Car park but the roads leading to here are very narrow but quite. The gate at the entrance is pad locked but if you want it can be climb over. Its still walkable but some if the fencing has fallen and there still the risk of futhure rocks falling.
Such a beautiful, wonderful place. Very glad to have seen that it has finally recieved some TLC from the council after many years of disrepair. Some litter around disappointingly but still highly recommend. Some picnic benches at the start, middle and very end of the trail. An easy (gravel) walk with some stairs involved. Small car park but lines recently painted and newly tarmaced.
With a good sized car park and clearly marked trails, Sloughan Glenn's is a great place to visit. The waterfalls are beautiful and easy to find. I would definitely recommend anyone to visit.
